The SF Film Commission works with the local film community to support local projects. Join us for the opportunity to make a great connection and find out ways to get support for your project.

Hear about the Filming Scene in San Francisco, especially the $600K tax incentive program for productions shooting in San Francisco.

Topics include:

  • San Francisco as a filming destination

  • Tax incentive programs for filming in San Francisco

  • The Film Space Grant that supports local projects

  • Opportunities for film training and economic opportunities through community engagement

  • Obtaining production permits for your San Francisco shoot

The San Francisco Film Commission works to develop, recognize and promote film activities in San Francisco. It works to promote the San Francisco Bay Area as a film destination while also working with the local film community to support local projects with significant ties to San Francisco.

As in previous Conversations & Connections events, members will have the opportunity to attend smaller group discussions, and will be able to drop in and out of Zoom rooms at will. Hang out in our WIFchat virtual lounge and/or join our mini-forum breakout sessions.

NEW SPEAKER: MANIJEH FATA 

Manijeh Fata is currently the Film SF Manager at the San Francisco Film Commission where she worked with films and TV series such as The Last Black Man in San FranciscoVenomBeautiful Boy, Chance and The OA. She has over 20 years experience in arts and education program management developing extensive community outreach initiatives and partnerships with non-profit organizations in Oakland and San Francisco. She holds two Bachelor’s degrees from UC Berkeley and an MFA in Cinema at San Francisco State University, where she created her award-winning short film Las Fruteras: A Fruitvale Tale.

The SF Film Commission is led by Executive Director, Susannah G. Robbins since 2010. Ms. Robbins worked in various areas of filming, as an assistant producer at Saatchi & Saatchi DFS Compton, NY, associate producer and researcher for documentaries on The American Masters Series, and as a location scout and location manager of many feature films in the Bay Area during the 1990s, including the Joy Luck Club, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jack, Flubber, Patch Adams and Bicentennial Man. As Executive Director of Film SF, Susannah strives to bring more production to San Francisco to help create local jobs and highlight the beauty of the City.
